چکیده

Simple, sensitive and accurate methods for determination of four drugs viz., Ciprofloxacin, Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate, Atrovastatin Calcium and Rosuvastine Calcium have been developed. The methods depend upon the oxidation of the drug by a known excess Ceric Ammonium Sulphate in sulphuric acid medium and subsequent determination of unreacted Ce (IV) using Amaranth dye. The methods have been validated in terms of LOD, LOQ, precision accuracy, %RSD, robustness and ruggedness. Factors affecting the absorbance viz., concentration of H2SO4 and time of reaction are optimized. The effect of excipients has also been studied and found to have no effect. The calibration curves are found useful for determination of pure drug and can be applied to pharmaceuticals in bulk drug and pharmaceutical industries.

Titrimetric and Spectrophotometric Methods for the Determination of β-blockers in Pharmaceutical Dosage Form

Three new methods using titrimetric and spectrophotometry are described for the determination of Propranolol Hydrochloride (PPH) and Atenolol (AN) with potassium bromate as the oxidimetric reagent and acid dyes, Methyl orange and Indigo carmine. In direct titrimetric (method A), the drug is titrated directly with bromate in acid medium and in the presence of excess of bromide using methyl orang...

Optimization and validation of spectrophotometric methods for determination of finasteride in dosage and biological forms

AIM AND BACKGROUND Three simple, accurate and sensitive spectrophotometric methods for the determination of finasteride in pure, dosage and biological forms, and in the presence of its oxidative degradates were developed. MATERIALS AND METHODS These methods are indirect, involve the addition of excess oxidant potassium permanganate for method A; cerric sulfate [Ce(SO4)2] for methods B; and N-...

The Color Removal of Dye-Containing Wastewater by Cerium (IV) Sulfate from Aqueous Solutions

In this study a giant reagent such as Ce (SO4 )2 was used for removing different initial dye concentration (10-1000 mg/l) of reactive red 31 (R.R31) less than two minutes in a laboratory scale whereas the percent of dye removal efficiency was %99.9. The Langmuir, Freundlich and Tempkin adsorption models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms. The Langmuir model agreed very well with...

Titrimetric and Spectrophotometric Methods for the Assay of Ketotifen Using Cerium(IV) and Two Reagents

One titrimetric and two spectrophotometric methods are described for the determination of ketotifen fumarate (KTF) in bulk drug and in tablets using cerium(IV) as the oxidimetric agent. In titrimetry (method A), the drug was treated with a measured excess of cerium(IV) in H2SO4 medium and after a standing time of 10 min, the surplus oxidant was determined by back titration with iron(II). The sp...

Spectrophotometric Determination of Pantoprazole Sodium in Pharmaceuticals Using N-Bromosuccinimide, Methyl Orange and Indigo Carmine as Reagents

Two sensitive spectrophotometric methods are presented for the assay of pantoprazole sodium sesqui hydrate (PNT) in bulk drug and in formulations using N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) and two dyes, methyl orange and indigo carmine, as reagents. The methods involve the addition of a known excess of NBS to PNT  in acid medium, followed by determination of unreacted oxidant by reacting with a fixed a...
